Uber’s U-turn lands cab drivers in trouble

Car owners and drivers attached with Uber, Online cab service providers alleged that the company is harassing them mentally and are not paying the promised salary.
Addressing a press meet here in the city on Sunday, taxi drivers and owners federation convenor, Deepak said, “The cab drivers and owners are providing a good service to the company and customers in the city from past one and half a month. But the company has recently dropped the fixed price of Rs 12 per kilometre to Rs 5 per kilometre which would affect the car drivers. Earlier, the company had promised to give Rs 1 lakh per month to the car owners and drivers, but now the driver would end up getting just Rs 10,000 per month.”
“Many have pledged their lands and properties to purchase a cab and have attached them to Uber, but now with this move of company, the repayment of loans has gotten tougher,” he added.
Members of the association, Subramanya, secretary Srikanth, Shadakshari, Treasurer Rajashekhar and Mohith were present.
