Mysuru, May 16:- The Department of Civil Engineering of Maharaja Institute of Technology (MIT), Mysuru, organised a two-day UG project expo and a conference on project works on May 16 and 17 carried out by its students during the academic year 2018-19.
The proceedings of the conference were released by the Research Officers of Karnataka Engineering Research Station (KERS) Sathyanarayana, Shamanna, principal of MITM, Dr B G Naresh Kumar, head of Civil Engineering of MITM, Dr C Ramakrishnegowda and the project coordinator Aniruddha A M.
The two-day conference saw 36 batches (143 students) of final year civil engineering students presenting their works for 20 minutes each, which was evaluated by the field specialists who are research officers at KERS. The project expo also showcased the batches’ works through posters, models and samples as applicable. Based on the evaluation of presentations and the exhibits in the expo, ‘best project’ award was conferred upon the winners.
Further, the proceedings compiled by Aniruddha houses in it the abstracts of works on various streams of civil engineering such as structural engineering, concrete technology, water resources engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering and geotechnical engineering. This book has been brought out with the intention of making the students know the importance of publications in the field of engineering and inculcates the ‘publication culture’ amongst the young graduates.
