Unable to repay loan, farmer commits suicide at Bylakuppe

Unable to repay the loan taken for agriculture, a farmer from Bylakuppe allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his residence, on Tuesday.

Mahadeva (55) of Abbur village of Kodagu district had grown corn in his 1.5 acre land and 2 acre land which he had taken for lease, but the crops did not yield due to scarcity of rainfall. He had taken a loan of Rs 4.5 lakh from SBM Abbur and unable to pay back the loan, he committed suicide by hanging outside his house.

A case has been registered at Periyapatna police station.

Tahsildar H K Rangaraju, Taluk panchayat members T Eerayya and S Ramu Ailapur visited his residence and consoled the family.
