Mysuru, May 31:- Sub-standard materials have been allegedly used for the construction of box drainage system around Alagudu Lake in T Narasipur. This has led to the collapse of the under-construction box drainage system.
Alagudu Lake is the biggest lake in T Narasipur taluk. To avoid excess water from entering Alagudu village during monsoon, the Irrigation Department came up with box drainage system at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. The under-construction box drainage collapsed on Wednesday night as a drinking water pipeline broke 200 metres away from the drainage structure. Villagers alleged that the huge amount of government funds for box drainage, sopanakatte and other projects were being misused by the tender holder. They alleged that the officials have also not visited the spot.
The villagers have urged the Deputy Commissioner to visit the village and examine the poor quality work, and to take action against the errant officials. (KS, NGB)
