Unfortunate that humans are destroying forest: MP Pratap Simha

Mysuru, June 16:- “Forest is the home for wild animals. It is unfortunate that human beings are destroying forests for their selfishness,” said Member of Parliament Pratap Simha.

He was speaking at World Environment Day celebrations held at Tibetan camp in Bylakuppe on Friday.

“Narendra Modi-led central government is working at global level to control the environment pollution. Central government has made various agreements with other countries for this cause. Each and every citizen of India should come forward to protect the environment,” he added.

MLA Mahadev inaugurated the programme and called upon the people to plant saplings that would bear fruits, which are the major food of birds.

“We have been working to protect the environment over the last 15 years. We have worked to clean up river Cauvery. We are planting saplings in 100 acres area with more than 150 varieties,” said Tibetan religious leader Karma Rimpoche.

Environmentalist Prof Ravi Kumar, former MP C H Vijayashankar, Sadashiva seer, Fr C R Rayappa, Zilla Panchayat member Rajendra, village panchayat president Savithramma, K K Ramu, Basavegowda, Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh, Ravindra and others were present. (MR/RBR).
