Mysuru, March 9:- An unidentified charred body of a woman aged around 35 years was found at Chamundi Hills when the fire-fighters of the forest department were trying to extinguish the fire on Friday.
When the volunteers and forest department officials were extinguishing the fire, they found the half-burnt body of the woman near a rock and they informed the police immediately.
K R Police visited the spot and sent the body to the mortuary of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute . K R ACP Dharmappa also visited the spot. Police said that the woman may have died 4-5 days ago and the body could not be identified. Police have registered a complaint.
The wildfire has consumed hundreds of acres of bushy forest.
DCF Dr K C Prashant, RFO Govindaraj and more than 30 staff were trying to extinguish the fire. Considering the magnitude of the fire, it was tough for the fire-fighters. Later, more than 100 fire brigade men rushed to the spot with district fire brigade officer Gururaj and succeeded in extinguishing the fire after continuous efforts of 5-6 hours. (MR/KS).
