Prime News, National, New Delhi, October 29:- The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) new Christian face and Union Minister KJ Alphons will be the party nominee for the Rajya Sabha bypoll in Rajasthan to be held on November 16.
Alphons’s name as the party candidate for the election to the Upper House from BJP-ruled Rajasthan was announced by BJP chief Amit Shah, a party statement said here on Sunday late evening.
The vacancy for the by-poll was necessitated as former Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu moved as the Vice-President relinquishing his seat.
The notification for the bypoll will be issued on October 30 and the last date for filing nominations will be November 6.
The Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent charge) will have a comfortable march into the Rajya Sabha as out of 200 members in the Rajasthan Assembly, the BJP has brute majority with 160 MLAs while Congress has only 24.
