Mysuru, July 17:- Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar appreciated Higher Education Minister of Karnataka, G T Devegowda during the video conference with the education ministers of all states.
When the state came up for discussion, Devegowda went on to introduce himself to the Union minister like other education ministers did. Javadekar stopped him midway and said he knows about Devegowda and congratulated him on his new portfolio. Devegowda thanked the Union minister for identifying Raichur and Yadagiri as the aspirational districts of Karnataka. He informed that the state government is ready to provide digital teaching at the two new age colleges at Yadagiri and Raichur. He requested the Union minister to provide adequate funds to develop educationally backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region. He said that the state has made great achievement in the implementation of RUSA scheme and requested the central government to continue its support.
The central government has selected 117 districts of 28 states under transformation of aspirational districts. Raichur and Yadagiri districts have been identified from Karnataka. RUSA scheme provides Rs 12 crore with each to start two colleges in the districts.
Executive director of Higher Education Department of Karnataka government, Dr S A Kori, Tandavagowda, Primary Education Minister N Mahesh and Commissioner of Public Education Department Dr P C Jaffer were present. (MR/KS).
