Mysuru, December 25:-The search committee constituted to select the Vice-Chancellor to the University of Mysore is expected to convene a meeting on Tuesday to select a candidate for the post which is vacant from 11 months.
According to sources from the University of Mysore the search committee headed by Former Vice-chancellor of Vishveshwaraya Technological University (VTU) H P Kincha, Former VC of Gulbarga University V B Coutinho and University Grants commission member V S Chauhan are likely to reconvene a meeting tomorrow to shortlist a name for the top-position of the century old Universiyt of Mysore.
Earlier it was reported that the Search committee would convene a meeting only in January to shortlist three candidates for the post of Vice Chancellor in accordance with the direction from the State government. However the sources on Monday said that the search committee panel are not interested to delay the meeting, so they are expected to meet on December 26th to shortlist the names for the post of the Vice-chancellor.
It is said that the committee will now not consider new applications for the job but instead three names from the old applications will be shortlisted to avoid further more delay. The shortlisted names would be further submitted to the state government as per the direction given to them.
The 100-year-old University of Mysore is functioning without a full-time Vice Chancellor from January 11th, 2016 and presently former Registrar of the varsity and senior professor C Basavaraju is been appointed as the In-charge Vice-chancellor of the University until a full-time VC is appointed. –(KK)
