UoM fails to meet UGC expectations

Prime News, National, Karnataka, Education, Human Resource, Mysuru, September 23:- Is the University of Mysore (UoM) losing what it used to stand for? In the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, UoM has an A grade but it has failed to meet the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) expectations. This will directly impact UoM’s standing in NAAC.

The university has scored 0.46 marks less compared to last year.  This is because UoM has failed to recruit staff for the last 12 years. Right from the year 2007, UoM has not recruited permanent staff.

On September 15, a seven-member NAAC team visited UoM. The team took the data (2014-2019) into consideration. As per the assessment, UoM scored 75.05% for an A grade and was facing a B grade if it had scored another 0.1 marks less.

UoM, it seems, failed to meet its target in the human resources section. That the UoM has failed to recruit staff from 2007 has directly impacted NAAC rating. (MR/KS)
