Mysuru, June 25:- Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore (UoM) is organising two-day workshop “From nutrigenetics to personalized nutrition” on August 23 and 24 at the Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition at Mansagangothri here.
Dr Asna Urooj, professor and chairperson, DoS in Food Science and Nutrition, UoM, is the convener for the workshop.
Nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics are potentially of huge importance to the health care system and to those seeking to understand the biology underlying normal homeostasis and disease. Given that India currently represents 49 percent of the world’s diabetes burden, it is pertinent to prevent the population from becoming overweight/obese, which is an important risk factor for the development of diabetes, through genotype-based nutritional intervention (ie personalised nutrition).
This workshop aims to spread the knowledge of nutrigenetics and personalised nutrition to the participants who can use this workshop as a platform to develop their skills in genotype-based nutritional interventions which will eventually overcome the global burden of obesity and diabetes.
No spot registration for the workshop, last date for registration is June 30. Registration Fee is Rs 2000 for faculty, practicing dieticians, nutritionist, medical doctors, scientists and Rs 1000 for research scholars and PG students.
Accommodation will be provided at UoM Guest House on additional charge for the participants.
