UoM Research Scholars’ Association stages protest over UGC scholarship norms

Mysuru, January 11:- The Research Scholars Students’ Association of University of Mysore (UoM) staged a protest here on Friday, condemning the alleged anti-Dalit and anti minorities stance of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

The protesters who gathered in front of the Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at Manasagangothri said that the BJP government at the Centre has been introducing anti-student laws since it came to power. They alleged that MHRD is altering UGC norms. They said that the UGC has made it mandatory to pass National Eligibility Test (NET) to apply for Maulana Azad Scholarship, National Student Scholarship. They said that it is anti-students and urged to withdraw the order and allow all the researchers to apply for the scholarship.
