Citing violation of norms, the Karnataka Higher Education Department has stayed the process of recruitment for 205 teaching faculty by the University of Mysore.
The University of Mysore has invited applications for the recruitment of 205 assistant professors, associate professors and professors including 55 backlog posts. Following which the additional chief secretary for higher education Bharath Lal Meena directed the university authorities not to make any direct appointment to fill the vacancies till further directions.
The university has violated norms by calling direct recruitment for the posts and though the violation was brought to the notice of the university authorities, they continued the recruitment process which is a gross violation of rules, Meena said in a letter.
The letter also said that the university has not followed roaster system and has flouted norms of UGC rules and guidelines. It stated that the SC/ST Committee had issued a standing instruction on June 25 that all direct appointments should be stalled till a policy is drawn up to fill backlog vacancies.
