Urgent need to change resolutions for universities: Ravikrishna Reddy

“There is an urgent need for changing the resolutions for universities and their vice-chancellors in order to prevent irregularities,” said Ravikrishna Reddy, state president, Lanchamuktha Karnataka Nirmana Vedike, Mysuru, at a seminar on ‘Vishwavidyanilayagala Indina Pristhiti’ organised by Vishwavidtanilaya Ulisi Horata Vedike at Rotary Auditorium, here on Tuesday.

After inaugurating the programme he said, “One cannot tolerate such irregularities in universities which are the major contributors for the development and transformation of the society. Universities are the places where the young generation is being trained to understand the social responsibilities, but it is very unfortunate to see that the universities are being seen as the stage where the politics, religion, corruption and cast biases are mushroomed.”

“Most of our universities today indulge in political benefits in the name of castes and corruption. The vice chancellors are given supreme power where not even the government can control them. It is time to change the powers and provisions for the higher officials in universities,” he added.

Dr S Shekhar Iyer, RTI activist; Maheshchandra Guru, Professor, University of Mysore; Mahesh Sosale, President, Dalit Vidyarthi Okkuta, UoM; K S Shivaramu, President, Vishwavidyanilaya Ulisi Horata Vedike, Mysuru and over 70 others were present.
