Mysuru Sahitya and Samskrutika Pratishtana organised ‘Vachana Dundubhi’ book release of poet, novelist M B Santhosh Kumar and Haratekatte programme to commemorate the 61st Kannada Rajyotsava on Sunday.
Professor of Psychology, Dr G Venkatesha Kumar inaugurated the programme and released the Vachana Dundubhi book. Speaking after the book release, he said that the Vachanas are relevant even in the present context. The Vachanas in the Vachana Dundubhi can be understood by everyone with ease. It would lessen the number of old age homes if the present generation reads the vachanas in the book.
Dr C Tejomati Santhosh of Mysuru Sahitya Vedike, said: “If we read the books by putting our heads down, it will help us live better in the society with better knowledge and understanding. Students should come out of whatsapp and social media and start reading books.”
“Vachanas are not difficult to understand as poems. Vachanas are the literature that can be found only in Kannada. The satires in his Vachanas are strong enough to correct the mistakes in the society and they reach out to the people more effectively. The bonding between the family members and other emotional issues are discussed in his works,” she added.
Balashri, Yuvashri, Sadhanashri, Yogarathna, Samskruthika Seva Rathna awards were handed over to students. Former Assistant Director of Myusuru Akashavani, G Rajalakshmi Sridhar and others were present.
