Vachana Sethu written by Premasethu released
Eminent writer Dr Malali Vasanthkumar said that the 12th century Vachanas and Sharana Sahitya was still relevant. In recent times, youths are developing interest towards Vachanas and Sahithya which is a commendable development.
He was speaking after realising Vachana Sethu book penned by writer Premasethu at a programme organised by Inchara Samskruthika Pratishtana jointly with Karnataka Vichara Vedike, Sri Matha Vidyasamsthe and Vismaya Publications at the Institution of Engineers on Monday.
He said that Vachanas had helped change individuals and society as it gave prime importance to equality and was against casteism and racism. In the 12th century, Vachanas were seen as spiritual teachings and did not get much importance after 21st century.
He said that writer Premasethu had studied the Choupadi of Memana a Telugu socialist and she has tried best to bring his ideas to Kannada. Literature like this should be a way of life, he added.
Ilai Alwar Swamiji of Vengipur Mutt graced the occasion. Social worker K Raghuram, former president district Kannada Sahithya Parishat Maddikere Gopal, M Chandrashekar, Vichara Vedike president Hiremarali Dharmaraj and others were present.
