Mysuru, August 9:- Heritage city Mysuru observed Varamahalakshmi festival with religious fervour despite continuous rains. The women celebrate Varamahalakshmi festival with devotion which comes on the second Friday of the Hindu month Shravana.
Special prayers and pujas were offered to Goddess Lakshmi early in the morning. Malini Praveen, a resident of Siddarthanagar here, along with her family members offered special puja to Goddess Lakshmi and sought blessings.
Beautiful rangolis were drawn since morning in front of the houses. Floral and mango leaves’ decoration have been a common sight in front of the houses in the city.
People prayed to Goddess Lakshmi for health, wealth, food and off springs. Mothers gave baginas to daughters. Special festival foods are also being prepared at the houses to mark the festival. (KS, NGB)
