Veena concert on Dec 11 at Ganabharathi

Mysuru, December 08:-Ganabharathi has organized a unique veena concert on December 11at Veenesheshanna bhavana at 6.00pm.

Its unique in the sense that artists performing on the day are of three generations, Vid M K Saraswathi along with her daughter Vid Rajyashree Josyer Srikanth and her granddaughter Aishwarya Manikarnika accompanied by Vid A S N Swamy on Mridanga and Vid Raghunandan Vyasa Rao on Ghata.

About artistes

Saraswathi hails from a rich musical lineage.  She was initiated into music at a young age by her musician mother, Smt Kamalamma, under the keen guidance of her father M K Srinivasa Iyengar.

Later, she received advanced training from Dr Gowri Kuppuswamy, a renowned disciple of the legendary MLV, and from Veena Maestro Sri M J Srinivasa Iyengar, a senior disciple of Veena Venkatagiriyappa who in turn was a direct disciple of the great Mysore Veene Seshanna.

She is thus an embodiment of the legendary GNB and Saint Thyagaraja paramparas.  She, in turn, is passing on the wealth of art and knowledge to the younger generations.  Her musical heritage is well continued by her daughter Smt Rajyashree Josyer Shrikanth,who is well known  in India and Australia for both Vocal and Veena performances, & her son Vid G Venkatesha Josyer who is  a renowned Violinist.

Rajyashree Josyer Shrikanth is a profound and talented exponent of Carnatic classical music (Vocal).  Being trained under the guidance of her mother she has also enthralled music lovers in most of the major sabhas of our country and also she has performed in Woodford Folk Festival  Woodford,Australia,  Sydney Music Circle Concert  Sydney, BEMAC Cultivart Series 2016,  Brisbane, Music By The Sea Concert.  Rajyashree imparts training to a number of young students in vocal music under the banner of “Sri Saraswathi School of Music”.

Being brought up in a musician’s family Aishwarya Manikarnika has a natural flare for music and is being trained in both vocal and veena. She has secured prize in AIR music competition and is also a recipient of CCRT scholarship.
