Verification of voters’ list will be held till Dec 17: Additional DC

Mysuru, November 20:- As per the directions of Election Commission of India, verification of voters’ list, which commenced on November 18, will be held till December 17. The names of illegal voters will be deleted by Block Level Officers (BLOs). Additional Deputy Commissioner, B S Manjunatha Swamy, who is also the district election officer, has asked the political parties to give detailed information.

At a meeting held with the leaders of the political parties, Manjunatha Swamy said it is essential to add or delete names from the voters’ list wherever it is deemed fit. Till January 1, 2021, those who complete 18 years can enrol themselves at their respective booths. As of February 2020, there were 25,43,489 voters. Till November 18, 20,226 voters enrolled themselves. Now, we have 25,63,715 voters, he said. The verification of voters list will be done on four Sundays – November 22, 29, December 6 and 13. Addition or deletion of names will be done at respective booths.
