Mysuru, August 28:- The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated Sri Channaveera Deshikendra Gurukula Building at Suttur Srikshetra in Nanjangud Taluk of Mysuru District on Tuesday.
Venkaiah Naidu who arrived in Mysuru last night took part in the 103rd Jayanti celebrations of Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami at Suttur Srikshetra.
Addressing the gathering, he said “Dr Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s vision was beyond the ordinary. He was a Guru in the real sense of the term. Swamiji thought beyond his times and dreamt of India which is rich in culture and heritage, but poor in material wellbeing. The tradition of Gurukula is one of the most unique and ancient traditions of our country. A Guru is considered as God in human form and accorded the highest respect in the social hierarchy next to parents.”
“Gurukula system symbolises the extraordinary relationship between Guru and student and no other culture accords such importance to ‘Guru-Sishiya parampara’ as we do in India. A student is expected to pay utmost respect to his Guru and qualify himself to earn his grace and obtain spiritual knowledge,” he added.
“Agriculture is our basic culture and it is the backbone of our economy. We need to take steps to make our country economically viable. We must make united efforts to improve lives of farmers,” opined Venkaiah Naidu.
