Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr Sreeraj, Asst Professor in Mathematics told that “Pi Day” is celebrated on March 14th as “National “π” Day”. The value of π is approximately 3.14159 and the Greek letter “π” is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant and it plays a very distinct role in solving many mathematical problems and is used frequently in Physics, Chemistry and in the field of engineering. “π” also plays a chief role in study of Super Conductors and Super Nova.
Dr Sreeraj also read a poem composed on the importance of “π” and entertained the students. H Satyaprasad, Principal of the college, presided over and said that today’s students need to recall the contribution of Indians in the field of mathematics. It is very important for students to observe such days in order to facilitate themselves in the study of basic science and mathematics.
