Vijayanagar Police crack cell phones’ theft case; arrest accused

The Vijayanagar Police in one of its biggest hunt operations has cracked a major mobile theft case where 50 mobile phones were robbed from a shop in city, recently.

On June 24 more than 50 mobile phones worth about Rs 8 lakh were stolen from ‘Mobile Palace’ shop. Acting on a tip-off, the Vijaynagar Police officers arrested Syed Umar, a resident of Udayagiri.

The accused has confessed that he had the habit of betting in horse races and raised money for it by stealing 50 cell phones.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP N Rudramani, ACP Umesh G Seth, SI B N Puneeth.  M N Satish Kumar Urs, S Mahadev, Krishna, Suresh, Somashetty and others also took part in the operation.
