Mysuru, July 18:- Karnataka State Village Accountants’ Association members staged statewide protest over various demands on Wednesday. The Mysuru unit of the association also staged protest in support of their demands. The members submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
The protesters urged the government to solve the injustice in promotion and to reduce the work pressure from other departments. They said that these demands were brought to the notice of the government. “Government has already held two meetings with the office-bearers of the association and yet the problems have not been solved,” said the protesters.
The village accountants (VA) alleged that as per the 6th Pay Commission, it was agreed to promote the VA’s which was later shelved by the finance department. They urged the government to re-examine this. They said that the VAs are forced to work on government holidays and urged to increase the travel allowance to Rs 1,000.
Hundreds of village accountants participated in the protest. (KS, NGB)
