Villagers thwart leopard from killing goats

There is no let-up in the attacks by wild cats in villages close to forest areas near here. A leopard on Tuesday evening attacked two goats belonging to one Manjanna of Kallanakere village in H D Kote taluk and the timely intervention by the villagers saved the goats.

The village residents on seeing the leopard, pelted stones and drove away the animal to save the goats. Manjanna along with the other village residents informed about the incident to the forest officials.

The villagers were furious as none of the forest officials did not turn up at the spot on time and they urged the officials of the department of forests to take immediate measures to capture leopards entering villages in the area. They also sought monetary compensation for the loss of their animals.
