The controversy over setting up Vishnuvardhan memorial has come to a logical end as the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given nod to construct the memorial in Mysuru.
Addressing a meeting at his residence, Siddaramaiah directed the officers to clear all the procedures and make arrangements to develop memorial in Mysuru. A place near Heggadadevana Kote (HD Kote) near Mysuru has been identified by the authorities and the foundation laying for the memorial would be held on September 18, the birth anniversary of the late actor.
Late Vishnuvardhan, loved the cultural city of Mysuru and in order to fulfil one of his lifetime wishes, a memorial will come up in HD Kote area of Mysuru district, according to his wife Bharathi Vishnuvardhan. “I visited the place and I am happy if the memorial comes up there.” It was Bharathi’s wish to take up bhumipooja on the actor’s birthday.
District In-Charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa is trying to get permission for the place near Mysuru and is in talks with the district administration looking out for possibilities.
It may be recalled that fans of Vishnuvardhan under the banner Vishnu Sena Samithi, had launched an indefinite protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Mourya Circle in Bengaluru and had threatened to intensify the agitation.
Along with Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, prominent personalities from the industry S R Govind, Sudeep, Ambarish had pressurised government for memorial in Mysuru.
