Vishwanath asks Siddu to lend support for Kuruba demand

Mysuru, December 4:- Allaying former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s fear, BJP MLC A H Vishwanath on Friday (December 4) opined that no one can hijack a big community like Kuruba community. That the Kuruba community is fighting for ST tag, Vishwanath invited Siddaramaiah to join the fight.

Talking to reporters here at the Mysuru Press Club, he said, “Siddaramaiah is welcome if he is ready to lead us for the community’s demand. Don’t be worried someone will hijack our community. Others leaders H M Revanna, K S Eshwarappa and others have also called you to join our fight. But you have been saying you have not got an invitation. Forget what happened in the past and join us now.”

Vishwanath said, “Siddaramaiah thinks there is a plot behind demanding ST tag for Kurubas. Don’t forget it is your community that supported you when you became the Chief Minister. If you lend your support, our community can grow further. But your staying away from the community is not right. We all need to join hands to meet our demands.

Vishwanath said, “I am much senior to you in age and give me respect that I deserve. Tread the path shown by former Chief Minister D Devaraja Urs which will help you in a long way.”

Commenting on BJP leader C P Yogeshwar row, the Kuruba leader said, Yes, I complained he did not utilise the money properly allotted for my constituency during the by-poll to Hunsur. You (Siddaramaiah) said your party offered money to JD(S) MLA G T Devegowda. Could you specify if it was white or black money?”

On Maratha Development Board, the BJP leader said, “Whether tomorrow’s bandh (December 5) is right or wrong, it is not correct to set up a board for every language. I am a Kannadiga and I love my language and therefore, oppose MDB. (MR/KS)
