Prime News, Karnataka, Politics, Elections, Bengaluru, June 25:- Siddaramaiah, who came to Congress from Janata Dal (Secular), was given Chief Minister’s post. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar has been with the Congress for a very long time and he deserves the plum post if at all the party wins the next Assembly polls with a majority, said BJP MLC A H Vishwanath in Bengaluru on Thursday (June 24).
Vishwanath was once with the Congress and his support to Shivakumar should not be seen as a surprise.
Vishwanath was reacting to reports that there is a fight in Congress over projecting the chief ministerial candidate for the next Assembly elections. “There are also many other senior leaders in the Congress. Mallikarjun Kharge and Dr G Parameshwar are some of the veterans.”
Lashing out at Siddaramaiah, Vishwanath said, “In the first place, he is struggling to find a constituency to contest the elections and saying he is the party’s CM’s face is not right. Talks will arise only after the next Assembly elections. If he were to be so popular, why did he lose from Chamundeshwari Constituency to G T Devegowda of JD(S) in the last Assembly elections?”
The MLC added, “Siddaramaiah’s followers and supporters say the party will win 150 seats, but Congress could win only 70 seats in the last Assembly elections. The Chief Minister’s post is a coveted one and it has got its own sanctity. Siddaramaiah should not play around with Chamarajpet MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan in front.” (MR/KS)
