Vishwanath decides to quit as JD(S) state president?

Mysuru, May 24:- If sources are to be believed, Janata Dal (Secular) state president AH Vishwanath is contemplating to call it quits. Owning responsibility for the party’s pathetic performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Vishwanath, it seems, has decided to step down as the president of the party.

For the record, Congress contested from 21 constituencies and JD(S) from 7 constituencies. Each managed to win a seat. After all the hype the coalition partners created in the last month or so, the verdict is a slap on the face for Congress and JD(S).

Son of PWD Minister HD Revanna, Prajwal won from Hassan Lok Sabha Constituency against A Manju of BJP. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil lost to Sumalatha Ambareesh in Mandya Constituency.   Another coalition candidate, C H Vijayasnkar lost to Pratap Simha in Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency.

Unable to withstand the loss of face in the Lok Sabha elections, Vishwanath wants to resign. (MR/KS)
