Mysuru, November 20:- There is a lot at stake in the ensuing Hunsur by-election which is slated for December 5. The momentum is gathering heat what with candidates from Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) filing their nominations. BJP candidate, AH Vishwanath, who is confident of winning the election and becoming a minister in the Yediyurappa cabinet, met JD(S) leader, JD(S) MLA GT Devegowda at his residence here on Tuesday and requested him to support him.
The former minister has already stayed away from JD(S) programmes. BJP thinks that if he supports BJP in the by-election, it would help them to a large extent. Keeping this in mind, Vishwanath called on Devegowda and spoke to him for some time.
“I share a good friendship with Devegowda. I visited his residence and requested him to support me in the by-election. His family has responded positively to my request. He said that he would discuss with his followers and take a call,” Vishwanath said while speaking to media. (MR/KS)
