Voters awareness campaign through Jagruthi Ratha

Mysuru, March 28:- To create awareness about the importance of voting the DISHA foundation under the aegis of ADR (Association for Democratic Reforms) with the support of SVEEP ( Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation kick started a rally and a door to door campaign on Tuesday in connection with the assembly elections in the state.

DISHA Foundation a voluntary non-profit, non religious and non-political organization working for the collective good of the community with an aim to harness the inherent goodness in people for the collective good of the community through meaningful initiatives created the awareness campaign.

The Making Democracy Work ( MDW) is one such initiative which is striving to create awareness amongst the citizens about the importance of voting, on how to obtain information about the candidates of their constituencies, how not to be influenced by wrongful practices of some candidates and the NOTA option.

DISHA Foundation has started this campaign In 20 constituencies in Mysuru, Hassan and Kodagu districts of Karnataka with the goal to increase the percentage of voting and to elect the appropriate candidate who will contribute for the nations development.

This campaign in Mysuru was inaugurated in Ambedkar Jnana loka by social workers Nagesh and   Puttanna through flagging off a rally.  The volunteers conducted a door to door campaign and a ‘Jagruthi Ratha’ conveyed the importance of voting. A group of 60 volunteers reached a total of 3000 people which included the community of B M Sri Nagara, Ambedkar Jnana loka and Karakushala Nagara.

The Auto Drivers, community helpers, shop owners and youth were actively involved in this campaign. Posters and stickers which promoted honest voting practices were also distributed during this campaign.

This Ratha- the awareness vehicle will go around Chamaraja, Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja and Chamundeswari constituencies from March 27th to 30th creating awareness about the importance of exercising the right and the responsibility to vote.
