Mysuru, February 14:- “The revised voters’ list of the district will be announced on February 28 and the copy of the final list will be handed over to the political parties by March 2,” said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep here on Monday. He was speaking at a meeting held at DC’s office with leaders of political parties.
“We have requested the Election Commission to add 12 new booths. It will add up to 2699 poll booths in the district. According to the draft list, there are 23,69,987 voters in the district. Around 78,403 have applied for voter ID cards and 16,665 applications have come for the removal of names. Around 9,976 applications have come for correction and 3,326 for the change of address. We have requested EC to shift 43 poll booths which don’t have basic amenities,” he added.
“Political parties should appoint their booth agents and submit the details to tahsildar office. By appointing booth level assistants, problems can be solved. Ballot unit, control unit, and VV pats will be supplied according to the number of booths. 3,560 ballot units and 3,000 control units will be brought from Tamil Nadu to the district. They will be inspected in the presence of political parties. All the candidates have to submit the details of election expenditure to the district administration. We have already finalised the draft of expenditure and the same will be given to political parties. If they have any objections, the parties need to raise the issue at the next meeting,” Randeep informed.
