Mysuru, September 14:- NSS wing of Sree Nataraja Residential First Grade College for Women here organised an awareness march on Saturday to create awareness regarding elections.
“Public representatives are elected through the election process. Active participation of the voters is essential to make the election process successful. Everyone should be aware of the electoral process. An election is the base of democracy. Active participation of voters makes democracy stronger. An election is a platform for the people to cast their right,” said the principal of the college Dr M Sharada.
“The then Chief Election Commissioner of India, TN Sheshan introduced voter’s ID in 1993 to avoid malpractices in voting. Every citizen is eligible to get a voter ID. It contains the details of the voters. MN Gill made voter ID compulsory for voting,” she added.
