MCC Ward border row: City faces ‘waste management’ issue

Mysuru, December 13:- Amidst confusions over the borders of the Wards coming under Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), the public are suffering due to waste management issues. Paduvana Road area of Kuvempunagar is full of piled up wastes. The officials of MCC and corporators who should have taken action against it have been giving reasons of ward regions, saying the area doesn’t belong to the ward they represent.

The confusion between MCC Ward 58 and 45 has pushed the area to remain dirty. Corporator of Ward 58 Sharath says the area comes under Ward 45 and corporator of Ward 45 Nirmala Harish asks the public if they have voted her and says it doesn’t belong to her ward. Officials of MCC say that it comes under Ward 45. But the public says that they have voted for Ward number 58, to which the officials have no answer.

Either side of the road has heaps of wastes being unattended which is causing enough trouble for the public. After the reshuffling of wards, this problem is prevailing in many layouts of the city.

Besides, several citizens have questioned the existence of MCC following accidents on pot-holed roads across the city. The corporators in many MCC Wards are sleeping over the dangerous pot-holed roads, they said (MR/KS)
