Waste management: Penalty for violation of rules

Mysuru, November 26:- Nanjangud City Municipal Council has decided to penalise the public if they violate rules of waste management.

The council has instructed mobile canteens, bakeries, meat stalls, bar and restaurants, roadside vendors, and students not to throw wastes indiscreetly. The council asked them to dump wastes in the dustbins by segregating them. If the public is founding throwing wastes, they will be fined Rs 50. For shop owners, fine will be Rs 200. For bar and restaurants, convention centres and bakers and hotels, the fine will be Rs 300. If the waste is dumped at government land and public areas, a fine of Rs 500 will be collected. If meat is thrown in public place, fine of Rs 500 will be collected. If waste segregation is not done, a fine of Rs 100 will be collected.

For urinating and spitting in public, a fine of Rs 100 will be collected. If anyone is caught committing the same offence thrice, a court case will be registered against them. (MR/KS)
