Wavelength of political science is different from other subjects: Prof G Gopa Kumar

“Political science is an independent discipline subject. It is also the continuing independent discipline subject. Political science is the mother of the entire science and management subjects,” said Prof G Gopa Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kerala, Kasargod, at 11th Refresher course in political science on “Contemporary trends in political science,” organised at UGC-HRDC on Tuesday.

After inaugurating the programme, he said “It is an essential subject for administration and public administration which has been originated from political science. We can cover managerial studies, legal and ethical aspects of public administration in political science.”

“In addition, political science has deep influence of philosophy. It becomes hard to understand political science without understanding the social circumstances. The subjects of philosophy, law, management science, sociology and public administration are the extraction from political science.”

“The wave length of political science is hugely different from other subjects. It is very interesting to know that the frame works developed in political science is Anglo-American model which has in great dilemma. The beautiful aspect is that the Anglo-American frameworks have contributed to scientific and mathematical approach to the subject of political science,” he added.

Prof G T Ramachandrappa, chairperson, Department of Studies in Political science, UoM; Prof Midatala Rani, director, UGC-HRDC, UoM and over 50 faculties from various institutions were present.
