Mysuru, February 23:- Promising that the state government is all for the development of Kannada, District In-charge Minister S T Somashekar on Tuesday (February 23) announced that Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) will have a building of its own in all the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district.
He was talking after inaugurating the District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in H D Kote. “There is a demand for a separate building in all the constituencies in the district and I shall talk to the concerned people to pass an order.”
He said, “I am very happy to inaugurate Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. We are determined to help Kannada thrive in the state and hope to take proper steps in future.”
Talking about Sammelana’s president Prof N S Taranath, the minister said, “He is a senior and well-known scholar in Kannada. He was the one who fought for classical language status for Kannada. He was part of the government committee that prepared a report in this direction. It is the effort of all the poets, writers and others that Kannada got what it deserved. When the issue of Kannada arises, we are all united.”
Chamarajanagar Member of Parliament V Srinivas Prasad, HD Kote MLA Anil Chikkamadu, Sammelana’s president Prof N S Taranath, District KaSaPa president Dr Y D Rajanna, HD Kote Taluk KaSaPa president Pramod, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat president Parimala Shyam and others were present. (MR/KS)
