Mysuru, March 4:- Women are showing that there is no field where they can’t make their presence felt. They have also proved that they can be the loco pilots of express trains as well. Two loco pilots drove Raja Rani Express train from Bengaluru to Mysuru. Loco pilot Shiva Parvathi and her assistant loco pilot Rangoli Patel drove the train successfully with more than 1,000 passengers on board.
Shiva Parvathi, 34, is basically from Peetapuram in Andhra Pradesh and joined the Railways after completing the diploma. She is married to Tulasi Raj and has a 7-year-old daughter Dhanishka. She was trained to be a loco pilot in Bengaluru for 9 months and started working since November 2019.
“I have driven the train from Bengaluru to Arasikere, Mysuru and Jolarpet. Trains can’t be controlled or driven like other vehicles. They have their own rules and ways. One should have a presence of mind while driving a train. If women are provided with an opportunity, they can prove that they are less to none,” said Shiva Parvathi.
“Women empowerment and giving equal prominence to women is our motto. As part of International Women’s Day, women loco pilots will drive Raja Rani Express on March 1 and March 8,” said chief Public Relations Officer (PRO) of South Western Railways (SWR) Hubballi E Vijay. (MR/KS)
