Mysuru, July 3:- “We are living in a world of mixed realities. We have to be clear with our choices in life,” said the chairperson of the Department of Studies in Kannada at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Dr Kavitha Rai.
She was speaking at a workshop held for degree and PU lecturers at Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) Hall here on Wednesday.
“Choices and priorities are important to get into any subject. When you are speaking to PU students, inform them about the things that they have to know and they have to learn. Earlier, students were made to read the lessons before the commencement of the class. Teachers have to spend better time with students. They should have a clear understanding of the lessons at first. It is difficult to make them read Halegannada and a bit difficult to read Nadugannada. Modern Kannada can be read easily and comfortably,” she said.
“Man keeps on making choices in life. In the era of globalisation, others are making choices for us. Along with language, the situation is also changing. Students don’t have a problem with learning and understanding. It is important for them to know themselves after 10th class and before 12th class,” she added.
Associate fellow Dr Radhamani and others were present. (MR/GK)
