Mysuru, March 28:- “We need an education that can change the mindset of human beings,” said the president of Kannada Pusthaka Pradhikara, Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi.
“The literature of women began in the kitchen. They work for the development of the society based on the human relationships and values. We have to discuss how literature evolved from folk to modern literature. Women are thinking of liberation all the times. Many say that women’s literature has come from Europe, which is far from truth. Equality has not been achieved between men and women even today. Education system could not change our mindset. Kodagina Gowramma, H Savithramma, Anupama Niranjana and others have worked and brought things to light on women-oriented issues. Phaniamma novel was written when women were rconfined only to kitchen. In the modern days, poets have written poems expalaining the beauty of women and many have portrayed them as an object for lust,” she said.
Ka Ta Chikkanna of Santakavi Kanakadasa Study Centre, director of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies University of Mysore Dr Preethi Srimandhar Kumar, convener Dr Vijayakumari and others were present. (GK, NGB)
