Letters spoke volumes about our lives earlier: Prof Mallikarjun

Mysuru, March 26:- “Why were the cell phones invented? It would have been better if there was no cell phone,” said Prof Morabada Mallikarjun of JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day seminar on ‘Historic documents of the Department of Archives,’ at JSS College at Saraswathipuram here on Monday.

“I am also a student of History. But I was not privileged as you are. I could not study the archives department when I was a student and when I was teaching for 34 years. I am happy to take part in this seminar. We speak over the phone which is forgotten soon. But the letters which we were writing were speaking volumes. Think of the power the letters of administration. There are important documents of the administration of Mysuru over its rich heritage and history. By studying the letters of Suttur seer in JSS archives, we will get to know how his life was and how selfless he was,” he added.

The principal of the college Dr K V Suresh and others were present. (MR/GK).
