While farmers suffer, ministers and officials are busy with Dasara celebrations: Kuruburu Shanthakumar

President of Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Organisation Kuruburu Shanthakumar flayed PWD and District In-charge minister Dr H C Mahadevappa for spending crores of rupees on Dasara celebrations in the district while the state is suffering from shortage of drinking water.

Speaking to the media persons on Sunday, Shanthakumar said: “The District In-charge minister is not worried much as the T Narasipura assembly constituency which is represented by him has sufficient water for agricultural activities. But the people in Cauvery River basin are dependent on the water released into the canals.”

“While the farmers of Cauvery river basin are in distress due to unavailability of water for drinking and cultivation of crops, ministers and officials are too busy with Dasara celebrations,” he added.

Kuruburu claimed that F S Nariman who was born in Myanmar will not understand the feelings of Kannadigas and urged the state government to change counsels representing the state in Supreme Court over Cauvery issue.
