Congress spokesperson Brijesh Kalappa on Tuesday came down heavily on former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa speaking about Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids on Congress members.
Addressing the media persons at Jaladarshini guest house, he said, “Who is Yeddyurappa to know about the upcoming raids on the Congress MLAs and MLCs? He was also arrested on charges of corruption and how can he pass the information to the press about the CBI raids?”
“He is one of the MPs in India and he knows all about the CBI raids. Thus there should be a CBI investigation against him for misusing the power.”
Speaking about the CBI raids in the state, he said, “The CBI has been formed under the Section 6 (6) of Delhi Special Police Establishment Act. The CBI is not a direct authority to take any sort of action against any individual in any state unless there is a clearance and request from the state government or the agency could act when the High Court of a particular state orders the CBI probe”.
“Looking at these issues, it could be very clearly said that there is violation of the powers in the federal system. Also it is the clear case of ‘pick and choose’ investigation only against the Congress members in the state”.
“Amit Shah, the national president of the BJP, recently said that he is going to make India free from the Congress and it should be done politically. But the continuous raids only against the Congress leaders have proved that this was a conspiracy launched by the BJP,” he added.
Speaking about former minister H Y Meti’s sex scandal, he said, “It is the most shameful incident we have come across. Let there be an investigation.”
Speaking about Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, he said, “This MP is talking irresponsibly for some time now and it is something which is not new,” he added.
