It is sad that state government is taking up anti welfare measures by opening 900 liquor shops in the state. This may bring money to the government at the cost of health of the people. This step will encourage the alcoholics to spend more money on it. Thus they are spoiling their health, besides affecting the maintenance of their family. Instead of this, it should have focused more on solving drinking water crisis in the state, which is going to be a major issue for the people in the coming months. In the absence of good rains in the last 3-4 years, all major dams and tanks in the state are getting dried up fast well before summer. Government should first think in this direction and take up necessary action to mitigate the water crisis rather than thinking to fill its treasury.
