Mysuru, June 15:- “Land Reforms Act amendment will be the death knell for farmers of Karnataka. If the government doesn’t drop this idea, we will stage statewide protests,” said the state president of Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene Badagalapura Nagendra. He was speaking to media in the city on Sunday.
“This amendment is nothing but an attempt to appease corporate companies and rich people. Already industrialists and real estate people have purchased of over 20 lakh hectares of land in the state and no agricultural activities are taking place there. Such an amendment is not right in this situation,” he said.
“Only farmers should be allowed to buy agricultural land. The government is making small farmers sell their land and head towards cities. When Siddaramaiah was the chief minister BS Yediyurappa had opposed this amendment. Now he is trying to implement the same. The government should immediately drop this idea. Or else we will stage statewide protests,” he warned. (MR\KS).
