Mysuru, September 14:- The meeting of Dasara Executive Committee concluded amidst misunderstanding between the Congress and Jananta Dal (Secular) leaders.
“The committee has decided to give emphasis for traditional Dasara. We have decided to appoint three vice presidents for the executive committee. Ministers Sa Ra Mahesh, Puttarangashetty, and N Mahesh will be made vice presidents. Last year an expenditure of Rs 15 crore was made. A resolution was passed uging the government to release Rs 25 crore this year,” said G T Devegowda, District In-charge Minister and president of the committee.
He said that Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Public Works Department (PWD) and other departments will work on developing roads, parks and provide drinking water facilities in the city.
“Dasara procession will be held on one day. There won’t be any rehearsal. Only selected artistes will be allowed to participate in the Jamboo Savari procession. Those who have not been given permission may walk along with the elephants on a permitted Sunday during their regular march. Dasara subcommittee will have 20 members, which includes 5 members each from Congress, JD(S) and the BJP. The blueprint of the Dasara will be announced on September 26,” he added.
“This time, Dasara will have bike rally, fish show, air show and art exhibition at Lalitha Mahal Ground and Town Hall. Events to promote Dasara will be held at London, Paris and other international airports,” said Tourism Minister Minister Sa Ra Mahesh.
