Woman taken for a ride in the name of puja

Mysuru, March 8:- A woman has been cheated by a person in the name of a puja for better health and wealth at Hootagalli. The ‘fake priest’ made good with gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh.

A person had come to the residence of A N Ananth Kumar of Hootagalli on March 5 and told his wife that he would do a puja for better health and wealth. The accused made the woman keep her mangalsutra weighing 56 gms, and another gold chain weighing 4 gms in a pot and made her sit in the hall and performed a puja. Later, he told her to put on the mangalsutra after half an hour and went. When she opened the pot after half an hour she came to know there was nothing and realised she was taken a ride. Her husband Ananth Kumar searched for the person everywhere, but to no avail. A woman selling hairpin and other products had reportedly told the residents to get a puja done by a person from Bangarpet for prosperity. Police are in search of the miscreants. (MR/KS).
