Women deserve to get their due: Dr Vinodamma

Mysuru, March 14:- “Women are lost in the flood of caste, religion and class in the society. The problems and harassment of these women are different from person to person. Though women are strong, the society is still treating them as second-grade citizens,” said Dr Vinodamma here on Monday.

She was speaking at a one-day seminar on Vachana Kranthiya Punaruthana, organised by SBRR Mahajana First Grade College at Devirammanahalli of Nanjanagud.

“The problems of women can’t be considered as a whole. Akka Mahadevi stood up against the patriarchal mindset of the society in the 12th century. Men and women have to complement each other and women are no less to men. Women are not a commodity. The system should understand and respect her individuality and freedom,” Dr Vinodamma added.

President of Mysuru Sharana Sahitya Parishat, Chandrashekhar, Dr N M Girijapati, poet Jayappa Honnali, Sugandhamma, Kumaraswamy, and others were present. (MR/SH).
