Women should give emphasis to mental and physical health: Mayor Tasneem Bano

International Women's Day celebrated at Town Hall in Mysuru

Mysuru, March 11:- “Women always fight for self-respect. They should also give importance to mental and physical health,” said Mayor of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Tasneem Bano.

She was speaking after inaugurating the International Women’s Day organised by the Urban Development Department, National Urban Livelihood Department at Sri Rangacharlu Memorial Town Hall here on Tuesday.

“Women have to prove that they are capable of doing things. They have to make use of the government schemes dedicated to women for a self-reliant life,” she said.

“The society will be much better if women become educated. Women education has to be given prominence,” said Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Gurudutta Hegde.

“Women’s Day is the occasion for women to break their silence. It is the occasion to establish our rights and share our difficulties and happiness. Female foeticide is increasing in India, especially in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and other parts. It is the responsibility of women to fight against it,” said retired professor of the University of Mysore, Vanaja.

Additional commissioner of MCC MN Shashikumar administered the oath of protecting and educating a girl child.

Deputy Mayor C Sridhar, Public Health and Education and Social Justice Standing Committee chairman J Gopi, K Nirmala, corporator Pallavi Begum, District Skill Development officer MN Shivanna, Shivappa and others were present. (MR/KS)
