The Konkani Christian Association (KCA), Mysuru, had organised a day-long career development workshop for students pursuing SSLC in government high schools, here on Wednesday. The workshop was aimed at streamlining the study process of the students and to boost their morale in order to help them achieve not only good marks, but also to impart wisdom to choose the right career for themselves.“SSLC is an imperative chapter in a student’s life, and simply needs good planning and discipline to succeed,” said Chetan Ram, founder of Ram Parivartan Trust, Mysuru, to an august gathering of students at Konkani Bhavan.
He encouraged students to come out of the socio-economic and family problems and concentrate on their studies. “Be confident, believe in your abilities, face the examination, be a successful student,” he said, adding, “What you want to pursue after SSLC depends on your performance now. It’s high time you start studying from now rather than studying prior to the examinations which only increases the stigma of fear among students.”Concentrate on lectures which is the mantra to success in the examinations, said Ram. The three-hour-long inspirational talk from Ram kept all the students glued.
Prior to the talk, KCA president Vincent Crasto advised students to focus on studies and said that no student studying in the government school should feel inferior to students studying in private schools.“Governments schools are on par with private schools in terms of imparting education. Thousands of people who studied in government schools have achieved greater heights. You all have the potentials to excel. All you have to be is confident,” he added.More than 300 students from five government schools participated in the workshop. KCA secretary John William D’Souza, treasurer John Leo Rebello and former members of the association were present.
