Dr. SSS Kumar, Dean (Academics) and Professor in finance, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, delivered a special lecture at the pre-conference workshop on Empirical Research in Finance, organised by SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), recently. In a clear description of challenges facing research, he opined that in the age of digital world, the information is available at one’s figure tips. “The centralised financial trading embedded with the technology has opened new avenues for opportunities for research oriented solutions.”
The inaugural session was followed by the invited talks on ‘Research Ideas in Banking’ by Dr Amitha Sehgal, visiting faculty, Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai and ‘Reflections on Monetary Policy’ by S S Bhandare, Advisor, Tata Strategic Management Group, Mumbai. The panel discussion on ‘Empirical Research in Finance – Topics, Scope, Analysis and Models’ having experts in the area of Finance was part of the workshop.
The workshop, organised as part of 5th international conference on Emerging Trends in Finance, Accounting and Banking 2016, was inaugurated by Dr N R Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD. Dr. M Sriram, Conference Chair welcomed the gathering and presented the theme of the workshop.
